The first roundtable discussion (RTD1) was held on 22 April 2022 at TNB Research with theme Malaysia's Current Outlook on RE and New Energy for Decarbonization: Way Forward for Energy Transition. The goal of the RTD1 is to gauge current RE adoption in Malaysia, while providing a comprehensive analysis of key challenges, drivers, and readiness factors in Malaysia's energy transition journey.

Ms Wan Hashimah Wan Salleh, Director of Green Technology at MIDA, highlighted the dilemmas and pain points faced by key players in energy transition, emphasizing the need for collaborative solutions.

Datu Haji Sharbini Suhaili, Group CEO of Sarawak Energy Berhad, underscored the importance of accelerating energy transition through identifying and leveraging key drivers.

Mr Peter Godfrey, Managing Director at the Energy Institute, explored the dynamics of the local and global energy mix, emphasizing the shift towards green energy and its impact on achieving net-zero goals.

Dr. Mohd. Hariffin Boosroh, Managing Director at TNB Research, discussed the essential aspects of readiness for transition, focusing on sustainability, affordability, and reliability in shaping Malaysia's energy future.
